Secret, it conceals petrified underground palaces where light and darkness play hide and seek with the enchantment of crystalline laces or abysses which open into the depths of Earth, as in Padirac

Modest, it is made of small constructions, like the cabins in the vineyards or for shepherds, the stone attics, or just the mineral pattern of the drystone low walls that stretch out on the lightly undulating landscapes of the " Causses ".

Grandiose, it displays all the talent of builders for mastering the laws of balance and harmony. It takes the shape of castles, of medieval cities sitting imposingly upon the highest headlands - such as Rocamadour, St-Cirq Lapopie - of towns coiled in a loop of the Lot, Célé or Dordogne rivers - like Cahors, Figeac and Souillac - or perched on the top of a hill (Gourdon).

Though in the heart of history, towns and villages are living in the present and combine with talent tradition and modernity, as the eclectism of the museums and the activities which give a certain rythm to seasons proves it.

Here you have leisure to go in for a walk in all its forms, sail down the meanders of the Lot river lined with the vineyards of Cahors - whose name has been famous for two milleniums - fish, swim, or just do nothing and listen to silence.
